The Reckoning · The Sacred Calendar
We keep Erisian time.
The Cabal reckons the days by the Discordian calendar: five seasons of seventy-three days, a five-day week, and a year numbered from the dawn of Chaos. By that reckoning, today is:
Today, in the reckoning of Eris
…consulting the Goddess…
(If the date above did not load, you have angered a fnord. Refresh and apologize.)
The Five Seasons
Seventy-three days each. The Law of Fives, as ever.
Chaos
Days 1 – 73 · the bag is new
All things begin. The first crunch. Hope, salt, possibility.
Discord
Days 1 – 73 · the bag is opened too wide
Chips scatter. Plans unravel. The tang sharpens. Good.
Confusion
Days 1 – 73 · whose chips are these
No one remembers buying the bag. It is here. It is half gone.
Bureaucracy
Days 1 – 73 · the resealable strip fails
Forms must be filed. The strip will not reseal. It never does.
The Aftermath
Days 1 – 73 · only crumbs and powder
You lick the powder from your fingers. You consider another bag. The year turns.
The Five-Day Week
We convene every Prickle-Prickle.
- Sweetmorn — the cool day. Eat with the Cream principle.
- Boomtime — open a fresh bag, loudly.
- Pungenday — the Onion's day. Weep freely.
- Prickle-Prickle — the Cabal convenes. Bring chips.
- Setting Orange — rest, reflect, and finish what is open.
There is also St. Tib's Day, which falls only in leap years and belongs to no week, no season, and no rules — the most Discordian day of all.
